Kinloss Quasar was founded in August 1995 after it was discovered that many talented young players did not have the opportunity to play hockey in Moray once they reached secondary school.
The club began with a total of only 6 members that soon became 17 so matches could be played and competitions could be entered. We now have upwards of 90+ active members. Once the club moved from its historical home at RAF Kinloss when the Army took over the facility and it became Kinloss Barracks we moved to a new training venue and the club changed its name to Quasar Hockey Club. Another major milestone in 2001-2002 was the merger with Moray Ladies Hockey Club giving Quasar HC the opportunity to have both men’s and ladies, boys and girls groups. The club was now open to all ages, male and female.
Over the years Quasar Youth teams qualified for many age group competitions and were champions of Scotland in various age groups 7 times and runners up many more, all started with Scottish Under 14 Cup in 1995/1996 and the Under 16 Cup with the same group in 1997/1998. Many of those players over the years have represented the club at District age group level and International level age group with 2 going on to represent Scotland Senior team over 50 times each.
Over the years the club has successfully toured both UK and Europe which has enhanced our reputation outside of Scotland.
The senior men’s and ladies groups have also tasted success in league competition and the groups progressed to be national League teams both indoor and outdoor. Both groups are currently in the North District League set up.
Quasar HC is an SHU accredited Club at Silver level which gives confirmation and assurance that the club is run correctly with all regulations and governance followed. We have a full and active committee who meet regularly to ensure the smooth running of the club.
